I’ve always been on the heavier side although I have been an athlete for all of my life. I played softball in college where we would have 3 hrs practices and then go lift. I was never one to be excited to workout but playing a college sport always kept me active. After I graduated college I got a 9-5 desk job and never went to the gym. I gained about 70lbs. After seeing myself in pictures from my nieces’ baptism, it was a wake up call that I needed to change something. I started with your basic diet and exercise and slowly getting back to the gym. That worked for a little while but I wanted something more challenging. Then I found crossfit!
I walked into the box not really knowing what to expect, but it was after the 8 min AMRAP of pull-ups, pushups and squats, when I was lying on the floor gasping for air, telling myself “I definitely need to do this again!” I’ve never thought I could push myself as hard as I have within these workouts. I am stronger and more fit than I have ever been in my life. Since I have started crossfit in January 2013 I have lost 40lbs and 8 pant sizes. Not only is CrossFit Farmingdale a place where I workout, its also a place where I have met some really great friends. It’s a great atmosphere to be in. Everyone is looking for you to succeed. Some days may not be as great as others but everyone looks out for each other and wants to see you do well. I still have some work to do but every day is one step forward to reaching my goal. Thank you Jordan for all of your help, you really are a great trainer and motivator!

I have been struggling with my weight for as long as I can remember. I was the perfect example of a yo-yo dieter – I would be really good for a few weeks, eat right and exercise a few times a week, drop a few pounds and then slowly just “fall off the wagon” and go back to my old ways. Exercising has always been a chore for me – I would do it solely because “I had to,” until I joined CrossFit Farmingdale in January 2013.
CrossFit has motivated me to be the best person I can be. I’ve been consistent with eating healthy, and for the first time in my life I actually ENJOY working out and look forward to it every day. I have lost 24 pounds since I joined, and I am stronger and more confident in myself than I have ever been.
Jordan Strump is an excellent coach and knows exactly how hard to push me to achieve and surpass my goals.
I don’t want to call these my “Before and After” pictures, because I know I’m going to continue to work hard to keep losing fat and building muscle, so I’m calling them my “Before and So-Far” pictures.
Jordan is a great motivator and skilled trainer. He has helped me to get closer to my goal of getting in better shape than I have been in over 20 years. The enthusiasm he brings to his Crossfit Farmingdale gym clearly spills over to all of his members. It’s a terrific community of individuals all pulling for each other during each training session. I personally feel healthier and stronger than I have in a long time. Down 20lbs in 3 months and ready to knock off the next 20.
I strongly recommend Crossfit Farmingdale and once you start you should be prepared for a life style change. You will become more concerned with what your eating and drinking and strive toward balancing your diet to produce better workouts.

I am 48 and have been plagued by a number of running-related injuries over the last few years as well as having a grade II spondylolisthesis in my lower back. I was at a point where I could not jump, twist, bend or run; kickboxing and other high impact cardio workouts became too painful, spinning became boring, zumba and yoga just weren’t for me, so I pretty much gave up working out and put on 25+ pounds.
I joined in Jan, 2013 and informed Jordan Strump, owner of Crossfit Farmingdale of all my ailments, and he was confident he could help me. He made sure my form was correct, started me off slowly with lighter weights to see what my limitations were, all the while giving me advice and encouragement.
Now, five months later I am 15 pounds lighter, stronger and leaner than I have been in almost four years. My back issues and symptoms have decreased, no more pain down my leg when standing or sitting and I am running again! Not at the pace and distance I was years ago, but as they say, this is a marathon, not a sprint ..Thanks Jordan…you rock!
